“SMART KIDS PLAY IT SAFE”
Job Site Safety Program for Children
The “Smart Kids Play It Safe” program is a tool for engaging children and their parents in the construction process. Although the program’s primary aim is to deter children from playing on, or near, construction sites, the program provides an opportunity to build relationships with school officials, and parents; and inspire interest in the construction industry as a career.
The program includes a 9-minute video presentation aimed at children in grades K-6. Support materials are also available, including plastic hardhats, crayons and construction-related coloring books.
“Smart Kids Play If Safe” has received national recognition, and consistently earned high marks from teachers, school administrators, contractors, and parents. The program was produced through a collaboration of 35 construction organizations, including members of BXNet; union and non-union employers; individual construction trades; architectural firms; engineering firms; and both residential and commercial contractors.
The Builders Exchange Network has been authorized to distribute the program to our members, and approve its use by others.
