What is a Builders Exchange?

A Builders Exchange is an Association or business that provides services and “exchanges” information among contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers, design firms, construction clients and others involved in the construction industry. Generally, Builders Exchanges represent a collection of construction-related firms or “members” within a local region. Construction-related businesses pay annual dues to belong to the collective, and receive the services it provides.

Builders Exchanges provide a full array of services, including group insurance programs, information directories, competitive bidding reports, plan rooms and sophisticated legislative advocacy efforts. All services are aimed at simplifying the construction process, and supporting the relationship between contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers, design firms and project owners.

What is a Plan Room?desktopblueprint coffee mouse and calc.gif

A plan room serves as a 'library' containing contract documents on projects currently in the bidding stage. Contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers interested in submitting bids on upcoming construction projects use the Plan Room to view blue prints and specifications for multiple projects in order to determine which ones fit their product or service, and to produce estimates for bidding.
